Welcome back to a new episode of the strong and athletic podcast. This is the first part of a two-part series interview with Olympic Weightlifting coach Steve Tikkanen and one of his athletes Cayle Horder, from Australia. Steve holds a bachelor of sports science and has over 25 years of experience coaching Olympic Weightlifting. He held many state and national coaching positions in between 1997 and 2017 in various national and international competitions ranging from Oceania championships to the Commonwealth Games and the Olympic qualifiers.
Steve has several accreditations from the Oceania weightlifting federation and the Australian coaching council. Currently, he is one of the head coaches in Odd Socks Halterophilie, an Olympic weightlifting gym located in Sydney Australia. He also teaches strength and conditioning at the Technical and Further education program.
Cayle is a computer science engineer and an ex-basketball player who transitioned to Olympic weightlifting and also one of the coaches at Odd Sock Halterophilie.
